Professor Chuanbin Mao is a Global STEM Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Director of the Jockey Club STEM Lab for Nature-Inspired Precision Medical Engineering. An elected fellow of numerous prestigious societies—including the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the American Academy of Microbiology (AAM), the American Chemical Society (ACS), the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE), and International Academy of Medical and Biological Engineering (IAMBE)—he is a leading expert in applying phage biology to modern medicine. His seminal contributions involve using phages to develop novel biomaterials. He has authored over 300 peer-reviewed publications in top-tier journals such as Chemical Reviews, Science, Nature Materials, and Nature Nanotechnology. His groundbreaking work focuses on genetically engineering phages for use as biomaterials in biosensing, nanomedicine, regenerative medicine, and antimicrobial therapy. He is a recipient of the US National Science Foundation CAREER Award, among other awards.
