First published in 1933, Modern Tendencies in World Religions is the result of author’s desire to find out what was happening in different religions and a long difficult search for materials to satisfy that interest. The sources of information have been various: books, newspapers, magazines, periodicals, in just so far as possible from the countries or religions represented. The book discusses themes like factors that produce change in religion; tendencies in Hinduism; modern tendencies in Japanese religion and China; religion in Russia; twentieth century tendencies in Islam and tendencies in Judaism.In discussing the world religions, author felt that the probable familiarity of the readers of the book with the effect of the modern age on Christianity would warrant the omission of any discussion of that faith. This is an important historical reference work for scholars and researchers of religion and world religion.
