The Military Ecosystem and Entrepreneurship in Nigeria highlights Nigeria’s (in)security challenges, regional military interventions and the broader military ecosystem — taken from the context of a life after military service. It explores veteran entrepreneurship, technology adoption and deployment, artificial intelligence and robotics within defence networks, while also examining the roles of families, spouses and youth. Although the coverage on religion and faith and private military and security companies (PMSCs) are underplayed, the collection ambitiously integrates diverse themes, especially “Technology and Militarisation”, cutting across tiers of the military — army, air force and navy. Overall, the book offers a valuable African perspective on veteran entrepreneurship and aligns strongly with key sustainable development goals (SDGs), including gender equality, industry, innovation & infrastructure, decent work, peace & strong institutions and partnerships for the goals. It also has implications for the current Trump administration’s warning to clean up insecurity in the country or face consequences, and speaks to interventions such as the collaboration with French forces to quash the recent coup d’etat in neighbouring Republic of Benin.
