From 1912 to 1966 Calgarians fought for a university. Calgary College survived three years, until its demise in 1915. A branch plant of the University of Alberta arrived in 1945, that two decades later emerged as the fully independent University of Calgary. Tony Rasporich, who joined the history department only a few months after autonomy in 1966, witnessed, as a professor, dean, and now professor emeritus, four decades of incredible growth. In Make No Small Plans, he tells our story in a wonderful anecdotal style. He peoples our campus with memories of events and personalities, stories that enrich our sense of place. (Professor, Don Smith, Department of History, University of Calgary)
