Law of Child Abduction in Ireland

The Law of Child Abduction in Ireland examines the law within the State applicable to the abduction ofchildren from the care of those with legal responsibility for them, which can compriseparents (in the broadest sense of that word) those with legal rights other than asparents, local authorities or other State agencies within the State or outside thisState.In addition to the well-known Hague Convention on the civil aspects of InternationalChild Abduction, there is detailed analysis of domestic law, the EU Regulations andthe Luxembourg or European Convention, together with the case law interpreting thecore provisions. Lastly, the interaction of the Constitution, the European Conventionon Human Rights, and the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Unionwith child abduction is considered.
