Jesus, the rabbi of Nazareth, was always on the move. Therefore, shadowing him, following in his footsteps, amounts to being engaged in a continual process of becoming, of reinventing oneself, of being born anew every day. This nomadic lifestyle, which fosters simplification and improvisation, is paradoxically also very enriching--to the point of transforming us into pilgrims on the way to the messianic age. ""By celebrating Jesus as the Nomad of Nazareth, Sr. Christianne Meroz uses travel to connect him to the ancient Hebrews, the immigrants and refugees of today, and our own spiritual journeys. With her keen psychological insight, she shows how travel can be both 'physical migration and inner transformation,' and can save us from a religion too narrowly defined."" --Lawrence N. Crumb, vicar, St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Cottage Grove, Oregon ""Jesus of Nazareth: Always on the Move is another in a series of small but challenging books for a small group conversation or a personal journey. As Meroz takes us along with Jesus' journey, we can examine our own journeys and challenge each other to examine our own journeys. This is a great tool for helping parishioners see faith working in their lives."" --Nancy Grear, Director of Adult Formation, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Rochester, New York Christianne Meroz, the author, is a Swiss nun, member of the Communaute de Grandchamp in Switzerland. Her community follows the rule of Taize. She was trained as a psychologist and facilitates women's growth and support groups in the Netherlands. Among her many publications, three studies of Hebrew Scripture women have been published in translation by Wipf and Stock--Five Women: Sarah, Hagar, Rebekah, Rachel, Leah; Three Women of Hope; and Esther in Exile: Toward a Spirituality of Hope. Dennis Wienk, the translator, is a priest of the Diocese of Rochester, having served most recently as Director of Pastoral Care with Episcopal SeniorLife Communities in Rochester, New York.
