“I think the challenges I encountered in both the rooftop and street photography scene don’t stem from my gender, but rather my own limitations as a creative person. I never thought of rooftopping as a male sport. Fear of heights, fear of trespassing, fear of getting caught — these are universal fears that a lot of people have, no matter what gender they are.” ~ Jennifer BinCanadian native Jennifer Bin picked up a camera when she moved to Shanghai in 2015. Her mesmerizing, futuristic images quickly drew legions of Instagram followers, now over 120,000 strong. Shooting on top of high-rises and dangling off building tops and towers, Jennifer seems utterly fearless. But this isn’t just a book of rooftop images; she shows incredible range and intent, capturing Shanghai in “future tense,” rather than the present.Memories of the Future is Ms. Bin’s collection of Shanghai images taken over an intense three-year period before moving to Zurich, Switzerland, where she was able to reflect on the work she created.
