Dr. Mehrdaad Ghorashi, Ph.D., P.E., CSWP, is a full Professor of Mechanical Engineering in the Department of Engineering, University of Southern Maine, Gorham, ME. Dr. Ghorashi has taught numerous coursed in the mechanical engineering curriculum in Sharif University of Technology and University of Southern Maine in the past 30 years. Specifically, he has taught a course on machine dynamics for fifteen years. His research areas include dynamics of structures and machinery, composite structures design, and limit state analysis of structures. Dr. Ghorashi has been a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the Province of Ontario, Canada till 2011 and he is currently a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Maine, U.S. He has served as a certified Program Evaluator (PEV) for the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) on behalf of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). Dr. Ghorashi is a member of the Subgroup on External Pressure in ASME’s Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Committee. He is also a member of the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) PE Mechanical (in Machine Design and Materials) and the NCEES FE Mechanical committees. Dr. Ghorashi earned his first PhD from Sharif University of Technology and his second PhD from Carleton University, with focus on vibrations, and composite structures, respectively. He is a recipient of the Best Professor Award from the Carleton Student Engineering Society. Dr. Ghorashi is a recipient of the Alexander Graham Bell Canada Graduate Scholarship Award (CGS), Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), and the J.Y. and E.W. Wong Research Award in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering, Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research, Carleton University. Dr. Ghorashi has received several SolidWorks certificates from Dassault Systèmes including CSWP and he is a SolidWorks Accredited Educator. His other book titled, Statics and Rotational Dynamics of Composite Beams has also been published by Springer.
