Induced Earthquakes

This work on induced earthquakes deals with all kinds of induced phenomena such as water-reservoirs, petroleum and gas extraction, volcanic eruptions, underground mining, underground nuclear explosions, and astronomical tidal stress. Other publications in the field of induced seismicity deal with individual induced phenomena and thus do not cover the entire spectra of induced phenomena. The comprehensive coverage in this book means that basic and fundamental aspects of induced mechanisms of seismic slip have been addressed. Moreover, induced phenomena like underground nuclear explosions and astronomical tidal stress on the planetary scale have been treated in this book for the first time. Thus the study of inducing phenomena having wide spatial and time scale variations is included in the book, giving readers and research groups deeper insight into the subject.
