The protection of intellectual property rights has a long international history. Common binding rules have always been recognized as necessary to provide a stable and predictable environment for both inventors and users. The TRIP's (Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights) agreement had to be implemented by developed countries by 1 January 2000, developing countries are also required to provide the protection for geographical indications, copyright and patent protection.
