Joe England was educated at Cyfarthfa Grammar School,Merthyr Tydfil and at the University of Nottingham where hestudied Economic and Social History. In a varied career he hasbeen editor of a weekly newspaper, a full-time lecturer for theWorkers Educational Association, Deputy Director of theDepartment of Extra-Mural Studies in the University of HongKong, Research Fellow in the Industrial Relations Research Unitat Warwick University and Principal and chief executive ofColeg Harlech, Wales residential college for adults. He hastravelled widely in East Asia and is well-known as a lecturer onsocial and industrial affairs. He is Chair of the Merthyr TydfilHeritage Forum.
