Chelsea Sutton runs away from home with whatever she can carry at the age of twenty-one to escape the grip of an abusive home life when her parents are manipulated by a cult leader named Ash Parker who convinces them that he is God and that Chelsea is his to own and command. Once on her own, Chelsea meets Brent Carter, an aspiring physical therapist with a zest for life who, along with his family, teachers her that there can be joy in the world for her.
