He also authored an introductory biology text for non-majors titled Biology: Science and Life. For several years, he wrote and published a newsletter about advances in human genetics for instructors and students. He was a faculty member at the University of Illinois at Chicago for over 25 years and was recognized as an outstanding faculty member.
