This volume brings together new work in archaeology, linguistics and genetics to reveal a varied and dynamic view of Australia's Aboriginal past, and its place in the prehistory of the Pacific region. A picture emerges of sweeping changes in the last 5000 years, at odds with prevailing notions of a static Aboriginal society.
