Nationalization of Hindu Traditions

This work studies how a dominant strand of Hinduism in north India - the tradition that uses and misuses the slogan "Hindi-Hindu-Hindustan" - came into being in the late 19th century. Dr Dalmia examines the life and writings of the Hindi playwright, journalist and polemicist Bharatendu Harischchandra as a focal point of analysis.
