Monica K. Li MD, FRCPC, FAAD is a double board-certified, fellowship-trained dermatologist and Clinical Assistant Professor with the Department of Dermatology and Skin Science at the University of British Columbia. As the Founder of Vancouver Skin MD, she has established a premier aesthetic medical clinic defined by its commitment to comprehensive, bespoke patient care and clinical excellence. A distinguished scholar, Dr. Li has made significant contributions to the advancement of dermatological science. She has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications and several book chapters. Dr. Li is a frequent invited faculty speaker at national and international conferences, and serves as a trusted consultant for L'Oreal, Beiersdorf, Galderma and other industry partners. Dr. Li has demonstrated leadership within the global dermatological community already early in her career. She has held influential roles with the Canadian Dermatology Association (CDA), the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS). She is a prolific contributor to public education in dermatology, with over 130 media engagements across television, radio, and national print.Dr. Li is equally recognized for her commitment to healthcare advocacy and governance. She serves as Board Member of the BC Women’s Health Foundation, established a yearly research award for undergraduate medical students from racial/ethnic minority groups to pursue research in women's and/or newborn health, and has provided integral leadership for ITS annual Glow gala since 2019. Tina S. Alster, MD, FAAD is a board-certified dermatologist and Clinical Professor in the Department of Dermatology at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, DC. She established the Washington Institute of Dermatologic Laser Surgery in 1990 which is credited as the first private cosmetic laser facility in North America. During her three decades in practice, she has trained thousands of physicians in the art of aesthetic laser surgery and cosmetic dermatology while continuing to deliver cutting-edge treatments to her patients. Dr. Alster’s contributions to the field is unparalleled. She has been an invited lecturer at hundreds of national and international medical meetings and has received numerous academic awards and honors from the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS), American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery (ASLMS), American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), Dermatology Foundation, and Women’s Dermatologic Society (among others). She conducted many landmark studies on laser applications, microneedling, and cosmetic injectables and has authored 7 textbooks and over 250 peer-reviewed articles on these and other subjects in indexed medical journals. Dr. Alster has held and maintains leadership and board positions in numerous professional organizations and has served on several academic boards. She has also been a consultant to several skin care and device companies, including Lancôme and La Mer, and developed her own skin care line.Dr. Alster has long believed it important to “pay it forward” -- her establishment of scholarship endowments for women pursuing careers in medicine at Duke University and a cosmetic dermatology resident education fund at Yale University displays a true commitment to paving the way for others to succeed.
