Philippa Matthews is a clinician scientist and group leader at the Francis Crick Institute, London. Her research focuses on hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection, particularly molecular drivers of disease and treatment outcomes in African populations. She has held clinical and academic posts in Oxford and London, with research programmes supported by the MRC, NIHR and Wellcome Trust, and longstanding collaborations in South Africa and Uganda.Paul Klenerman is Truelove Professor of Medicine at the University of Oxford and an infectious diseases physician. His research explores T cell responses to persistent viral infections, including hepatitis C virus and cytomegalovirus, as well as unconventional T cells such as MAIT cells. He also works on vaccine development and immune-mediated disease, with major funding from Wellcome and other international research bodies.Anna Furmanski is the Course Director of the MSc in Integrated Immunology at the University of Oxford. Trained as a T-cell immunologist, she has published widely in thymocyte development and T-cell differentiation before moving into immunology education and programme leadership. She is actively involved in teaching quality assurance and the British Society of Immunology, with a strong commitment to accessible, transformative education.
