Aristotle's Categories in the Byzantine, Arabic and Latin Traditions

Few books have had as much influence as Aristotle's Categories from the 3rd century BC - it is because of this books that we use such terms as 'quality' and 'quantity' to this day. From Late Antiquity until well into modern times, anyone who received a higher education in the Greek, Latin, or Arabic worlds read this scripture, or at least a part of it. The twelve chapters in the book deal with examples of the use and interpretation of Categories in these three cultural circles. It ranges from 8th-century Constantinople to 17th-century Copenhagen.
