EDWARD C. MEYER was the youngest Four-Star General to be Chief of Staff of the United States Army. Born and raised in Pennsylvania, he saw combat in Korea and Vietnam and earned the Silver Star and Purple Heart. President Jimmy Carter named him Chief of Staff in 1979. Meyer retired from the Army in 1983 and resides in Arlington, Virginia, where he serves on the boards of several major corporations.R.
