The Main Ways of Spa-Resort Tourism Advancement in Armenia

Spa-resort tourism is one of the most popular types of tourism which extends very fast throughout the world. People visit sanatoriums and spa-resorts for rest and recovery of the vital forces of the human body. Thus, spa-resort tourism development has a social, economic and health significance for the country. Armenia has a high potency for the organization and advancement of spa-resort tourism. There are ten resorts in Armenia all of which may become internationally known for their natural curable resort resources: mineral water, curable mud, turf and good conditions for climate therapy. The assets are compared with universally known resort resources of Karlovy Vary, Zheleznovodsk, Pyatigorsk, Vichy, Borjomi, Abastuman, Kislovodsk, Esentuki, etc. Undoubtedly, Armenia was known as a regional resort centre during the Soviet era. However, nowadays there are many obstacles for development.
