Even though almost nothing is known about Amaru, his Amaru Shatakam is considered to be the best-known and highly regarded love poetry in the world of Sanskrit literature. This reputation has existed in its literary record since over a thousand years. These ancient lyrics give vivid glimpses of human love in quite a modern manner.
