Reprinted articles by scholar of business Boas Shamir (d. 2014) discuss leader-centric approaches, the leader-follower relationship, the context of leadership, and his legacy as a professor. Among his topics are the motivational effects of charismatic leadership: a self-concept based theory, social distance and charisma: theoretical notes and an exploratory study, and organizational and contextual influences on the emergence and effectiveness of charismatic leadership. Scholars influenced by his work also contribute new papers, on such matters as keeping the baby while refreshing the bathwater: revisiting the role of singular leadership, and leadership in transformation: from maestro to a jazz orchestra.
