Ladies First

"Ladies First" presents profiles of 40 women who had "firsts" in various fields. Each three-page profile is accompanied by a full-page portrait of the woman in action. Subjects range from the first woman to cross the Atlantic in a rowboat to the first woman to graduate medical school. Some emphasis is placed on women explorers and adventurers, but the collection is not meant to be definitive or encyclopedic in any way. Rather, it brings together an exciting cross-section of women whose accomplishments make great stories.
