Charles Marlow is a young man who is looking for a position. Thanks to his aunt, he becomes the captain of a steamboat which belongs to a company that trades in ivory. He thus goes to Africa and soon discovers a barbaric world where black people are mistreated by lazy white men. His work leads him to the heart of the jungle where he meets Kurtz, a strange individual worshiped by the natives.
