Nicholas Michael Sambaluk is an Associate Professor at the US Air War College, its 2024 Lieutenant General Brent Scowcroft Research Chair, and the author or editor of eight books on strategy, technology, and military history. His first book, The Other Space Race: Eisenhower and the Quest for Aerospace Security (Naval Institute, 2015), won the Air Force Historical Foundation’s book of the year award and was included in the National Security Space Professional Reading List for 2021. His Myths and Realities of Cyber Warfare (Praeger, 2020, reprinted by Bloomsbury Academic, 2023) resulted in special recognition by the Air Force Association. His most recent monograph, Building Dutch Air Power in World War II (McFarland, 2025), explores a case of airpower as an instrument of both warfighting and coalition-making. Sambaluk, who has previously taught at the United States Military Academy and at Purdue University, is especially interested in the use of technology to fight wars and advance strategic interests.
