Where Credit is Due

This study of the economics of survival reveals a world of commerce in poor countries that challenges the conventional image of the "poverty trap" and those caught in it. The author recommends widespread support of credit-based income-generation programmes as a cornerstone of a new poverty-orientated development strategy that fosters the self-directed alleviation of poverty.
