Urban Wetland Ecology and Floods in Kumasi, Ghana

Urbanisation and climate change are two of the greatest environmental challenges the world is experiencing. Wetlands bear the heaviest effects of urbanisation in Kumasi, Ghana. Also, current forecasts show that climate change will very much affect sub-Saharan Africa and may cause flooding in many areas. Already, Kumasi has been battling with a growing incidence and scale of floods, mostly, at the suburbs closer to wetland areas. This book therefore provides a vivid presentation of the interlocked issues of urbanisation, climate change, wetland ecology and degradation and flooding in a developing country city setting: Kumasi, Ghana.
