We join our heroine Billie in an English church as she struggles to come to grips with her mother's death. She is trapped in a tangle of emotions, blatantly refusing to do what's expected of her, mourn.

After escaping the awful scene, a chance encounter directs her to a very special bottle of whisky. The magically charged drink becomes the boarding pass to the strangest journey of her life.
