To Fetch a Pail of Water is a noir romance in which Jack and Jill go up the hill and discover monsters in the well. Jack from Leeds and Jill from Barmouth fall in love on their first day at university. They will tell each other secrets that they hope can be disarmed in the telling. But even with all the drugs and alcohol they consume, and the misfit friends they surround themselves with, and all the travelling they do, this will not be enough. They will find themselves in a present haunted by a past that refuses to be repressed. In sad desperation, they are drawn to desperate remedies.
