The Samanids

Complex research of the data of numismatic, epigraphic, ethnographic and toponymic-linguistic materials in addition to the information of medieval textual sources allowed us to conclude, that the high ancestor of the Smnids Smn-Khudt was the Turkic of origin and as his ancestor Bahrm Chbn belonged to the Iranized Oghuz tribes of Khursn (Balkh). From another line his origin was connected with the Ashna clan, the ruling dynasty of the Great Turkic Qaghanate. The second homeland of Smn- Khudt was Farghna valley, where Bahrm Chbn settled in the last period of his life. Smn- Khudt was descendant of Bahrm Chbn from his marriage with the Turkic princess - the daughter of the Turkic ruler of Bukhr and Supreme Turkic Qaghan El- Tign (Parmda, Nil-Khn), the son of El Arsln (Shr-i Kishwar, Swa-Shh) and grandson of Tardu Qaghan (Qar Chrn).
