This book argues that the Right to Development (RD) is a recognized right in international discourse and has a capacity to promote both open and participatory government and social justice in domestic jurisdiction, that have incorporated it into their national Law.The main impetus of the RD is the need and demand for a shift in economic power through the developing countries' and the "have nots" involvement in decision-making in the conception, formulation and implementation of policies and programmes that impact the economic, social, cultural and political development of all countries and people within States.implied in this is transparency and accountability of the international community and States. Further the duty holders are obliged to provide an enabling environment and equality of opportunity for all to access resources. Most important is RD's focus on empowerment, participation, distribution and redistribution of proceeds. The concept of the RD has been applied at national level in the Malawi Bill of Rights.
