The lyrical potential of Lowland Scots is given free rein in this faithful reworking of the Old Testament Books of Wisdom by Gavin Falconer and Ross G. Arthur. The culmination of more than a decade of work, the volume represents the first comprehensive, uniform Scots translation of some of the best-known of Old Testament writings and includes several striking etchings from the much-loved 1866 Bible of renowned French artist Gustave Dor. As a national and literary achievement and as an act of linguistic recovery it is nothing less than a milestone.
