The Life and Times of Denis Julien

The Pish-la-ki, or Merrick and Mitchell Silver Mine, is one of the best known of the many so-called "lost" mines that seemingly dot the American Southwest.  Yet it has also been called "the most lied about mine in the West."  Beginning in 1880, newspaper accounts, official military reports, as well as various magazines and periodicals, have been written about the Pish-la-ki mine.  This has continued even into the 2000s.  However, no one book has been devoted in its entirety to the subject.  This book corrects that, not only pulling together all of the various stories and tales of the Merrick-Mitchell mine, but sifting fact from fiction as well.
