The Felt Community

This book provides a historical context to the international debate on the nature of nationalism by examining the ideas, feelings and identities that existed in the Indian subcontinent before the emergence of modern nationalism. It argues that there was an earlier felt community which provided a real psychic foundation to the nationalism that emerged in modern times.
