Africa remains the most embattled continent on earth. Its present and future are filled with trepidation. Despite over fifty years of political independence, Africa's aspirations and hopes remain largely unfulfilled. The continent is pegged at the bottm of the global development tree. Governance and Development has recently gained currency in public policy ans democracy discourse in Africa. This calls for unfolding variuos issues of concern and devising suitable strategies for development. The book examines governance and development crises in Africa. Through a critical analysis of selected issues, the work explores the chronic contradictions that have consistently clogged the continent's pathway to good governance and sustainable development. The study appropriately diagnosed the socio-political, economic and historical antecedents of the crises and used such to proffer remedial actions for good governance and sustainable development in the continent.
