The Bridegroom: WITH 'Count Nulin' AND 'The Tale of the Golden Cockerel'

Paul Scofield, Simon Callow, Ralph Fiennes and Prunella Scales have given readings of Antony Wood's translations of Pushkin. This volume contains his translations of three celebrated long poems which have not been readily available in English: the ballad The Bridegroom, combining everyday life, nightmare, and the elements of a good whodunnit; Count Nulin, a delicious rural-life parody of Shakespeares Rape of Lucrece; andThe Tale of the Golden Cockerel, the eeriest of Pushkins verse fairytales.
