Present investigation was carried to find out the suitability of community based fish culture in rain fed paddy land (locally known as hator or dogi) through assessing the ecological context, meteorological parameter and socio-economic status of the related community and associated water logged area has been evaluated. Six rain fed paddy lands has been selected for study namely Devnagar, Miribari, Dudrajpur, Amirpur, Nolchera and Nandiara. Fish biodiversity was studied and more than 24 small indigenous fish species are found. The ecological and social context into which any intervention is introduced is likely to influence the success and outcomes of collective action. The assessing of the suitability of Community-Based Fish Culture in the rain fed/waterlogged paddy land aims to contribute to the increase the production of the fish in the study area and convert a unproductive system to productive ones. The result reveled from the current study has indicated that water logged paddy land of the greater Ramganj upazila might be a model for the rest of the geographically alike area.
