This is the first in-depth study of Soviet politics under Stalin from the end of the Second World War until the dictator's death. It shows how politicians, bureaucrats and even academics and writers influenced the formation and implementation of Soviet policy during those years. Stalin's voice was often the most important one in the political process but it was never the only one.
