South-East Asia: A Modern History

This book adopts both a narrative and a comprartive approach to the modern history of Southeast Asia. It is divided into five parts, examining, for example, state formation, political developments in the twentieth century, and historiography. The author also compares the experiences of Southeast Asian states, peoples, and regimes with those in other parts of the world.
