Soccer Discourse Among University Students in Southwestern Nigeria

The beauty of language inheres in its ability to reflect the context of its use, making it possible for social realities to be encoded through language. The domain of sport, being that which witnesses an unquantifiable outpouring of emotions, indeed shows a lot about the context-dependency of language. This study has thus shown the unique features of sport discourse, especially soccer discourse as it manifests among the University students in some Nigerian Universities.
