Smart Home Security

Security is a challenging topic with varying levels of complexity, depending on the application field. It requires special attention and precautions. This is, perhaps, most true in the increasingly popular area of home automation, where a breach of security can result in anything from loss of privacy to physical damage. In the smart home setup the notion of security gets even trickier with the ever growing size and versatility of the network and the unique limitations of each new device connected to it. This text goes through the state of the art security solutions and best practices applied in constrained environments. It addresses some of the limitations inherent to the IoT world and what they mean for the existing and potential future security solutions.
