Slope Engineering in Hong Kong

The rapid economic growth in recent years has resulted in increasing demand on Hong Kong's infrastructure, and the use of steeply sloping sites with extensive cut and fill slopes for building development. In the dense urban environment of Hong Kong, pressure to maximize land use is intense. The proceedings contain a keynote paper which describes the risk management of slopes of Hong Kong and an invited paper which presents the state-of-the-art of slope design in Hong Kong. The publication also contains papers with a wide range of topics including case studies, slope hydrology, design and analysis of slopes, application of quantitative risk techniques in slope stability assessment and other special topics.
