Michael Zeuske examines the transatlantic slave trade (1450-1900) with regard to the historical place of the Atlantic as well as the institutions and actors involved (especially in non-European societies of origin and destination). A focus is on the hidden Atlantic slave trade of the 19th century that took place after the European and American ban on the transatlantic slave trade.
