A storybook about the history of the Sioux and Cheyenne Indians, based on research and family oral history stories, including genealogy information about the bloodlines of both the authors, while at the same time trying to stay within the boundaries of a story in a time-line sequence of events format. Many descendants of the warriors who participated in the Little Bighorn battle of 1876 did not want to tell their family oral history stories soon after the time of the battle, and one person at Pine Ridge reservation even said their grandfather who participated in the battle had told his family they could not tell anyone about it until 50 years passed after his death. By now, times have changed, and it is said all the participants of the Little Bighorn battle have long since passed away, and much of their children have passed away, it's been decided by many families enough time has passed after the Indian wars, to where they can tell their family stories, without fear of retaliation, or being forced to leave the agency or reservation areas, due to threat of Indian up-rising, and it is now generally encouraged throughout the Indian Country to try and save and record all that is left of these oral history stories, before they are lost to time. This book tells some secret family oral history stories and information about a Sioux spy from the Indian Wars who lived during the 1800's wild west era, who was known as James Calhoun of the US 7th cavalry, and who is said by family oral history of his descendants to have been known by over 100 different names in his life-time, including the names Joseph Antoine Janis and Morgan William Tewell, who the authors of the book are directly descended from. The book has much information that has never before been published, and reveals information about the descendants of Chief Sitting Bull through his two oldest daughters, Many Horses and Walks Looking, as based on family oral history stories. Also includes information about several other Sioux chiefs including never before published information about the descendants of the older sister of Chief Crazy Horse, of the Little Bighorn battle, whose name was Cheyenne Woman/aka Saheyela Win, as based on family oral history of her descendants, and includes information about the descendants of John Yellowbird of Pine Ridge reservation, who is well known as the controversial son of General George Armstrong Custer and his captive Indian bride. The book also includes information about the descendants of the controversial Lakota Sioux son of Jesse James of the outlaw James gang who married a Dakota Sioux girl from the Redwing family, and reveals known information about other members of the James gang and secret saved oral history stories about the past adventures of the James Gang. A storybook based on a mixture of true family oral history stories, and research over 10 years in the making.
