Shepherd in the Wilderness

Ripley's book Shepherd in the Wilderness is a historical and biographical account of the Reverend Peter Hobart, founder and first minister of First Parish Old Ship Church, in the early years of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. This important, brave, and colorful leader was a founder of Hingham Plantation and later helped to turn the Bay Colony towards greater democracy.
