In his first exciting novel, San Francesca, author JJ Williams takes us on a semi-fictionalized, comical road trip from San Francisco to the Mexican border through the eyes of Arsenal fanatic Richard James.
Richard has escaped his "Dead end job, boring relationship, and his monotonous routine" back home in London in search of adventure and excitement. He finds it in California and shares it with an odd assortment of other travelers, locals and his love interest Francesca, all this while remaining a dedicated follower of Arsenal, who unknown to him are poised for their greatest ever Premiership season (2003/04).

With Arsenal contending for the Premiership back home, Richard starts his journey in San Francisco where his interest is piqued by an "Argy bird" - Francesca. She leads him on an emotional rollercoaster ride down the California coast, with all the classic American elements; sex, drugs and rock n' roll.

He experiences the "off the beaten path" life of a traveler as he cruises down the Big Sur with a sexy 40-something real estate lawyer, watches Arsenal games with eccentric, surgically enhanced fans in LA bars, joins a Ska band and goes all out on a fight night weekend in Vegas with a couple of Millwall Bushwhackers from back home.

Written with a blend of fact, fiction and fantasy in a style similar to that of Fear and Loathing Las Vegas and the addictive, fanatical desperation of Fever Pitch, Williams' novel not only comments on British/American culture and human nature, but also provides travel information and inspiration. As the first novel in "The Unbeaten Track" trilogy, San Francesca is a cult classic not to be missed!
