Rosie's Backpack

Rosie is a fun loving, spirited girl who is having some trouble with a bully at school. She tries everything, but nothing seems to work. So instead of the typical "ignore them" and "walk away" advice, she discovers a new tool!

What Rosie learns is that we all have emotional backpacks, which are invisible and hold all the positive and negative feelings we collect throughout our lives. We are all in control of our own backpacks, but without insight and the appropriate help, we might not be aware that we unnecessarily carry the burdens of others or that we can control what goes into our backpack.

Rosie sees that the hurtful actions of others are usually a reflection of their inner world, and not a reflection of us. This story shares a positive and life changing message for kids and adults. It is a great jumping-off point for important conversations around emotional awareness, empathy, compassion, boundary work, and coping skills.
