Retreats, hideaways, escape spaces - call them what you will, such havens offer us a personal, private and peaceful place to nest, nurture and take time out. These spaces offer the chance to create a completely unique interior. Be it a simple potting shed, a homely shepherd's hut, a yoga-lover's cabin, a fishing lodge or summer house, a treehouse, a hit-the-road (or river) hideaway, a seasonal yurt for the summer months, a purpose-designed garden smart pod equipped with all the latest mod cons or even a tiny sauna tucked into a garden spa, they may be designed with a specific purpose in mind, or gradually tailored to suit growing and changing needs. Planned to provide us with a place for escape as well as somewhere to enjoy our favourite activities, these retreats are spaces where we can dabble, dawdle and daydream either alone or en famille, as well as care for our mental and physical wellbeing.
