Godfrey Gitahi Kariuki,popularly known as G.G.is one of the longest serving political leaders in Kenya's post-independence history.Yet, unlike many of his political contemporaries, his contribution to the historiography of Kenya has been overshadowed by the history of leaders whose careers were defined in Kenya's colonial experience.His life, political achievements and limitations as well as contributions on the local and national front have not been analyzed and documented.This is a volume of a peasant boy who contributed to Kenya's struggle for independence and reflections of role he played in resolving land conflicts and the resettlement of squatters, particularly in Laikipia.This book highlights his rise and fall on the national political arena.The populace's opinion of G.G. Kariuki is divided; some view him as brave, concerned, generous and an unpredictable brilliant strategist, while others regard him as mean, arrogant, proud and rude.His is the history of a colonial heritage,compulsion to rebel,interpretation of reality,treachery and disillusionment.
