Pathways for Reaching Air Quality Standard and Carbon Peak in Selected Cities in China

This book establishes a methodology for city-scale greenhouse gas and air pollutant emission inventories, and a synergistic analysis framework is proposed for cities to "double-attainment" based on air quality objectives. The book illustrates the paths and strategies for cities to "double-attainment" using Zhengzhou, Shijiazhuang, and Huzhou as typical cases. The authors emphasize that "double-attainment" requires more than end-of-pipe control measures. Instead, it necessitates the deep adjustment of energy, industry, and transportation structures. In particular, the green transformation of energy and the elimination of outdated production capacity can have a significant synergistic impact and should be prioritized in decision-making. The methodological framework, analysis examples, and policy recommendations given in this book can help readers understand the theory of "double-attainment", master the method of "double-attainment", and use the strategy of "double-attainment", which facilitates the promotion of sustainable development and harmonious coexistence between human beings and nature.
